What's been happening at St Meryl this week?

  • Week beginning 28th January

Thu 31 Jan 2019 Mrs Geddes

A cold and frosty week at St M! Despite this we have enjoyed playing and learning inside and out as usual.

On Thursday Year 6 performed their class assembly to the rest of the school and parents. They took us back in time to Tudor England and entertained us with their versions of Romeo and Juliet including an impressive range of Shakespearean insults! They performed a song for us whilst playing ukuleles and Mr Davies played his guitar. It was AWESOME!

Also on Thursday Year 4 participated in an indoor athletics event at Merchant Taylors' school.

    Monday

Mrs Geddes introduced our new peer mediators in assembly, freshly trained and ready to join our existing pupils with this responsibility. All the children know they can access peer mediation at lunchtimes as and when they need it.

    Tuesday

Mrs Geddes had a lovely day teaching Nursery whilst Miss Pomfret was doing some training.

    Thursday

It was out first class assembly of the term and 2019 and it was the turn of our Nursery children! Everyone was so impressed with how confident they were. They counted to 10 in Spanish and every child told us about their painting. Mrs Geddes is so, so, so proud of the children! Well done!

    Monday

A great start to the week for the children with an ancient Egyptian dance workshop.

Then at lunch time Green House got to have their lunch and movie in the Hall in recognition of the most house points awarded last term. Well done Green house!

    Tuesday

The Year 1 children took a walk in the local area to find a lost toy. Thankfully it was found just outside the Post Office and brought safely back to school. Well done Year 1!

Years 5 and 6 had a visit from Mr West who spoke to us about his career in the Police Force. He also reminded us that with hard work and determination anything is possible. It's so important to have dreams and aspirations. Thanks Mr West!

    Thursday

Year 3 did their annual visit to Tate Britain. It was a really good day and we are inspired to create our own art gallery now we are back at school.
